Postpartum

Postpartum is a time of profound change—and in Traditional Chinese Medicine, it’s also a vital window for deep restoration. Through acupuncture, cosmetic acupuncture, and personalized herbal medicine, care is designed to replenish what’s been depleted, support healing, and gently guide the body back into balance.

Acupuncture can help regulate hormones, improve circulation, support milk production, ease pain, and calm the nervous system—promoting better rest and emotional well-being. Cosmetic acupuncture offers a natural way to restore radiance by improving skin tone, reducing puffiness, and supporting collagen production, helping you feel refreshed from the inside out after those long nights with less sleep. Herbal medicine works more deeply to rebuild energy, nourish the blood, support recovery, and strengthen immunity during this sensitive phase.

Together, these therapies provide consistent, holistic support—helping postpartum mothers recover more fully, feel more grounded, and truly bask in a state of nourishment, resilience, and renewed vitality.

I. The POSTPARTUM

Acupuncture Treatment

Our Postpartum Initial Women’s Health Acupuncture treatment is a dedicated 90-minute session designed to fully honor the depth of your recovery after birth. Even if you’ve received care with us before, we recommend booking this extended visit for your postpartum phase, as it allows the time and space to reassess your body after birth and address your current needs with fresh perspective.

During this session, we thoughtfully review your birth experience, symptoms, and any physical or emotional concerns to gain a complete picture of your healing.

From there, we create a personalized treatment plan tailored to restore balance, rebuild strength, and address common postpartum challenges such as fatigue, energy, sleep, pelvic heaviness, digestion, emotions, lactation, and any other signs or symptoms. This longer first visit offers deeper, more intentional care—laying the foundation for more focused and supportive follow-up postpartum treatments.

Each follow-up session is tailored to how you’re feeling each week/day, allowing us to adjust your treatment plan and continue supporting steady, sustainable recovery. These visits are an opportunity to stay consistent with care, helping you feel more supported, stable, and aligned as you move through the postpartum phase so you can simply focus on the beautiful moments of motherhood.

(See packages and memberships for discounted postpartum acupuncture sessions.)

Please note, the initial session is slightly longer than follow-up appointments to allow for a thorough intake, health history, and personalized treatment plan.

III. The PLACENTA ENCAPSULATION Service

Our Placenta Encapsulation service honors a long-standing tradition of postpartum care, transforming your placenta into a gentle, nourishing supplement to support your recovery after birth. In Chinese medicine, placenta—known as Zi He Che—has been used for thousands of years as a valued substance to help replenish and build the blood, restore energy, and support overall healing during the postpartum period.

Rooted in both traditional midwifery practices and herbal medicine, this approach is designed to help the body recover from the physical demands of childbirth. It is often used to support energy levels, support emotional balance to prevent Postpartum Depression and Anxiety, and boost lactation, while aiding in the restoration of blood, strength and vitality.

We approach this service with deep respect, care, and professionalism, ensuring your placenta is prepared safely and thoughtfully. For many, this is not an unusual practice, but rather a time-honored, natural way to support the body’s transition after birth—helping you feel more nourished, replenished, and grounded in your recovery.

Benefits of Postpartum Treatments

Hormonal Balance

Talk about a hormonal roller coaster! Unfortunately, the only consistency new mamas see is the consistent fluctuations in hormones. After birth, your hormones drop significantly. Yet your Oxytocin rises to contract the uterus, breastfeed, and bond with your baby. Prolactin rises to support lactation, cortisol (stress) levels rise due to sleep deprivation, physical recovery, and the demands of caring for a newborn. These are just some of the changes that need balancing and support to be the best new mama you can be!

Lactation Support

Certain herbs and acupuncture treatments are traditionally used to help support healthy milk production and flow or boost milk supply. Holistic education can be given as well to avoid common lactation issues. Herbal medicine and acupuncture can provide gentle, natural support for lactation concerns like clogged ducts and mastitis.

Treats Postpartum Depression / Anxiety

Acupuncture and herbal medicine have been known for its benefits in treating depression and anxiety, along with a plethora of other emotions. Commonly, there are many powerful points and herbs for PPD/PPA that can be treated holistically and naturally.

Supports Physical Recovery

Helps replenish blood, restore energy, and promote healing after childbirth, especially following significant blood loss, helping treat muscle soreness/stiffness, headaches, migraines, and other physical ailments that pop up postpartum.

Supports Immunity

Your immunity is naturally low post birth and can be prone to sickness. Strengthen your body’s immunity and prevents against disease by keeping the body in balance and treating pattern symptoms as soon as they appear.

Lifting the Qi for Prolapse

Acupuncture can help support pelvic floor recovery and address feelings of heaviness or downward pressure after birth. Acupuncture and herbal medicine can also promote healing for postpartum prolapse and related discomfort.
