II. The IN VITRO FERTILIZATION support Pre & Post Transfer Acupuncture Treatment
Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine are often used as supportive therapies during IVF or IUI (Intrauterine Insemination) to assist in optimizing the body before and after embryo transfer. Research suggests that acupuncture can improve fertility, egg quality, improve blood circulation to the uterus and ovaries, move stagnation, relax the nervous system, reduce inflammation, and balance the body’s vital energy—crucial for optimal fertility.
Undergoing IVF treatment can bring much excitement of the potential for motherhood, but can also be accompanied by heightened emotions, anxiety, stress, physical discomfort, and hormonal changes that can make this phase very demanding and overwhelming as well.
Acupuncture’s supportive role can promote relaxation to assist the mental well-being of the future mama. Acupuncture administered before and after embryo transfer is believed to enhance the chances of a successful procedure. Although acupuncture is not a guaranteed solution, it remains a natural, non-invasive approach to complement modern fertility treatments.
Please note, for best results, women should begin their acupuncture journey for fertility protocol approximately 3-6 months in advance of fertility treatments and the highest reported success rates of pregnancy occurred when receiving acupuncture the same day of embryo transfer.
